The Cost of War
Story aired: Tuesday, March 18, 2003

The White House is expected to ask Congress next week for money to fund a war in Iraq.

The likely sum, around $90 billion, is on top of money already appropriated for the military buildup in the Persian Gulf, and does not include the cost of any post-war reconstruction.

Estimates for the cost of a war have varied widely, and the president has come under fire for not providing his own numbers before now.

Guests:

Steven Kosiak, Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments.
