United Nations Security Council (AP)
U.N. Relevance Questioned
Story aired: Tuesday, March 18, 2003

After months of back-room diplomatic brawling, and some pretty public brawling, the United Nations did not get to call the final shot on whether there would be a shooting war with Iraq.

This raises the question: is the credibility of the U.N. -- shot?

Guests:

David Malone, president of the International Peace Academy

Sir Brian Urquhart, whose involvement with the U.N. began in 1946. He was present at the creation of the institution, and now observes, not for the first time, a U.N. in crisis.
