Saddam Rallies Troops in TV Appearance
Story aired: Monday, March 24, 2003

Saddam Hussein appeared on Iraqi television early this morning, condemning American actions and cheering on his troops.

During his appearance, Hussein appeared healthy, and seemed aware of at least some of the latest developments in the war, mentioning a particular battle and praising individual army commanders.

Still, some say the tape was heavily edited and that the man who appeared might not have been Hussein.

Guests:

Amatzia Baram, University of Haifa professor
