Twelve American soldiers are now missing in Iraq, and images on Iraqi television seem to confirm at least four dead.
Five other soldiers, prisoners of war, were peppered with questions by an off-camera interviewer. Speaking in a shaky voice, a captured American said he had nothing against the Iraqi people, "they don't bother me, and I don't bother them"
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld demanded that the prisoners be treated in accordance with the Geneva Convention, saying that the Iraqis are in violation of the Geneva convention for showing POW in a "humiliating manner."
So what does the Geneva Convention say about the treatment of prisoners, and the conduct of war?
