U.S. Marines fire mortars at Iraqi positions in the town of Kut (AP)
The Stage in Baghdad
Story aired: Thursday, April 03, 2003

Baghdad. It's a city with a foreign army poised on its outskirts and a dictator, presumably, still holed-up somewhere in its urban heart.

Five million citizens of Baghdad are now in a kind of psychological vise between the U.S. armed forces and tens of thousands of Iraqi military and militia still believed loyal to Saddam Hussein.

John Daniszewski, reporter for the L.A. Times is in Baghdad, joins us to talk about the stage in Baghdad as the battle approaches.

Guests:

John Daniszewski, reporter for the L.A. Times.
