Story aired: Friday, April 04, 2003

Imagine if right after September 11 a New York firefighter sat down with a New York journalist and tried to tell her about his lost coworkers.

Of course that did happen in reality all across the city, and now that scene is being played out on the screen in the first feature film that tries to capture the emotional fallout from that day in September.

The new film "The Guys" stars Sigourney Weaver as the writer and Anthony Lapaglia as the firefighter who needs help writing eulogies for his lost men. This film began as a series of workshop performances in New York's Flea Theater. Director Jim Simpson commissioned the work from Anne Nelson who teaches journalism at Columbia University and had never written a play.

Jim Simpson, Flea Theater founder, and actress Sigourney Weaver join us in the studio to talk about the film, "The Guys."
