Israelis, Palestinians Get "Roadmap" to Peace
Story aired: Thursday, May 01, 2003

Eight Palestinians, including a 2-year-old and a 13-year-old boy, were killed by the Israeli army during an incursion into the Gaza Strip today.

The raid follows the suicide bombing yesterday in a Tel Aviv cafe, which killed three. The Palestinian militant groups Hamas and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades both claimed responsibility.

In between those two events, the long-awaited international "roadmap" to Middle East peace was released.

Drafted by the United States together with Russia, the European Union and the United Nations, the roadmap calls for a series of steps by both sides leading, eventually, to the formation of a separate Palestinian state and a wider regional Arab-Israeli peace.

Guests:

Molly Moore, Washington Post correspondent in Jerusalem.
