An Indian Border Security Force soldier, right, and Pakistan Rangers soldiers
Pakistan Offers Nuclear Disarmament
Story aired: Monday, May 05, 2003

Pakistan today offered to destroy its entire nuclear arsenal, if neighbor India would do the same. It is part of a startling burst of goodwill diplomacy between the two countries that share a history marked by tense military standoffs, severed trade ties, and even nuclear brinkmanship.

India has so far balked at the offer of a nuclear-free subcontinent but is preparing for talks between leaders of the two countries.
