Congress to Overturn Religion-Based Hiring Ban
Story aired: Thursday, May 08, 2003

For the last two decades it has been illegal for private groups that run literacy and job training programs to hire and fire employees based on their religious beliefs. That may change today.

Under the $4 billion Workforce Investment Act, expected to pass in the House today, it will be legal for those running some federally funded programs to do just that.

Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank discusses his opposition to that portion of the bill.

Guests:

Congressman Barney Frank, (D) Massachusetts.
