NRA Frowns at Bush Stance on Semi-Automatics
Story aired: Thursday, May 08, 2003

A measure to extend the 1994 ban on semi-automatic assault rifles will be introduced in the Senate today, and President Bush is expected to support it to the disappointment of many of his core constituents.

The ban on the sale and ownership of certain assault weapons expires next year and many gun-rights groups, including the National Rifle Association, have said they'll make it a top priority to overturn the measure.

Andrew Arulanandam, director of public relations for the NRA, discusses the organization's position on semi-automatic weapons.
