The Matrix Reloaded
Story aired: Friday, May 16, 2003

When "The Matrix" came out four years ago it was a tech-noir sci-fi surprise hit. The story was wildly original, surprisingly philosophical, and just plain fun, with gripping, gravity-defying fight scenes.

"The Matrix" tells the tale of an apocalyptic battle between man and machine, a battle the machines eventually dominate, hooking themselves up to human bodies for their energy. Some humans escape, digging deep into the earth. The rest exist in a virtual dream world controlled by artificial intelligence. That's the matrix. "The Matrix" for many became an instant classic and now the Wachowski brother's ardently awaited sequel the "The Matrix Reloaded" is here.

Keanu Reaves is back as Neo, and Laurence Fishburne returns as Morpheus. The story picks up as thousands of machines, known as sentinels or squiddies, attempt to reach Zion, the underground city, to destroy what remains of the free human race.

Guests:

Eric Schaefer and Renee Graham, film reviewers.

William Flesch, author, "Vicarious Experience."
