Report: U.S. Gun Laws Help Terrorists
Story aired: Tuesday, May 20, 2003

A congressional study released today warns that the nation's federal gun laws can be easily exploited by terrorists who can get their hands on assault weapons and explosives through loopholes and delays in the gun control system. At the same time, the FBI warns that Al Qaeda may be ramping up for more attacks overseas and possibly in the U.S.

The congressional study was conducted by the Congressional Research Service, and reporter Dan Eggen wrote about the study in today's Washington Post.
