Cover detail, "Getting Mother's Body"
Getting Mother's Body
Story aired: Wednesday, June 11, 2003

A lot of people, when they've got a good thing going, are mostly interested in keeping that good thing going.

Let's say, for example, you've won the Pulitzer Prize for your last play, the high point of an already spectacularly successful career in the theatre.

For your next act, so to speak, you write another play, right? Well, not if you're the playwright in question, Suzan-Lori Parks.

She's gone and written her first novel, branching out -- some might say sticking her neck out -- into fiction. The new book is called "Getting Mother's Body" and Suzan-Lori Parks joins Here and Now in the Studio to talk about it.

Guests:

Suzan-Lori Parks, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and author, "Getting Mother's Body."
