Egypt Officials Lead Mideast Ceasefire Talks Story aired: Monday, June 16, 2003
Despite continuing violence between Israelis and Palestinians, there's also continuing talk of trying to stop it. Egyptian mediators assembled Palestinian militias today to try to engineer a ceasefire.
A Hamas leader said that "now is not the time for truce" and Israeli officials called for militant Islamic groups to be crushed, not courted. Despite the harsh words by the Hamas representative, Palestinian officials were optimistic that a deal would be struck soon.
