Capturing the Friedmans
Capturing the Friedmans
Story aired: Tuesday, June 17, 2003

Once upon a time the Friedmans of Great Neck, Long Island, seemed like a family straight out of a gentle, laugh-filled TV sitcom.

Father Arnold, a beloved high school teacher; wife Elaine, the classic suburban mom. Both raising three boisterous, rascally sons, Jessie, David and Seth. A family, like many in America, that loved to take home movies of itself, home movies that in the new documentary, "Capturing the Friedmans," gradually, and devastatingly, begin to weave another tale, of a family haunted by demons.

"Capturing the Friedmans" is being shown in theaters around the country this summer, and director Andrew Jarecki joins Here and Now to talk about his documentary.
