U.S. Army Pvt. Jessica Lynch (AP)
New Findings Cast Doubt on Lynch Rescue
Story aired: Tuesday, June 17, 2003

This much is known: on the morning of March 23, 19-year-old Private Jessica Lynch and her Army maintenance unit were ambushed in Southern Iraq.

News reports said that Lynch fought her captors bravely and was shot, maybe stabbed, before her dramatic rescue was captured on tape. Then a BBC documentary argued that the Pentagon had staged that rescue.

As television networks compete to tell the Jessica Lynch story, today's Washington Post tries to figure out what the true story is. Washington Post reporter Dana Priest joins Here and Now to discuss the Jessica Lynch story.
