It looked as if Howard Dean had been campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination for at least a year, but according to a spokeswoman, the former Vermont governor has only been having a "dialogue with the American people."

The official announcement comes today in Burlington, Vermont, where Dean will reap lots of media coverage.
