Kathy's summer salad
Kathy's herb garden
Kathy Gunst's Ultimate Summer Garden Salad Vinaigrette
Story aired: Wednesday, June 25, 2003

There are few dishes more satisfying than a well made green salad with fresh picked garden lettuce, garden herbs and a simple herb-filled vinaigrette. You can be adventurous and try different types of lettuce like buttercrunch, frisee, mache, arugula, radicchio, romaine and green leaf. For the herbs try chives, basil, tarragon, rosemary, sage, or thyme. Instead of chopping the herbs, you can try them whole. Edible flowers are another great summer item; you can try nasturtium, pansies, or sage flowers.
