Story aired: Tuesday, July 22, 2003

The Liberian rebel group engaged in a bloody battle for the country's capital city says it has ordered its solders to stop fighting.

Rebel troops and the forces of President Charles Taylor have been fighting for control of the port area of Monrovia. The order for the ceasefire comes a day after many people were killed.

One aid worker in Monrovia said the situation is bleak, and that there is no shelter, no food, and no water.
