Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mahmood Abbas. (AP)
Abbas Meets Bush at White House
Story aired: Friday, July 25, 2003

Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas is getting the red carpet treatment at the White House today as he meets with President George W. Bush.

Abbas's reception stands in glaring contrast to the White House's shunning of PLO leader Yasser Arafat.

Things have been unusually peaceful in the Middle East since the declaration of a ceasefire, but both Israeli and Palestinian leaders say it won't last if the other side doesn't make more concessions.

Guests:

Michael Tarazi, legal advisor to the PLO.
