Postcard Poetry Results
Story aired: Thursday, August 14, 2003

In 1993 something happened to Wyn Cooper that a poet usually only dreams about: his verse was heard, and adored, by millions, thanks to pop musician Sheryl Crow in the lyrics to "All I Want to Do is Have Some Fun." The song is actually lines from Wyn Cooper's poem, titled simply "Fun."

Flash forward ten years to today: Wyn Cooper is still writing from his home in Vermont, and right now one of his favorite forms is the postcard poem. He's written over 150 of them over the past two years, enough to fill two books, and Cooper also has a record deal setting some of these brief, impressionistic pieces to music.

For our latest poetry challenge, we asked listeners to send us their compact, bite-sized pieces of verse.

Guests:

Wyn Cooper, poet.

Jim Behrle and Molly Saccardo, poets.
