Yasser Arafat (AP)
Arafat Calls for Truce
Story aired: Wednesday, August 27, 2003

Middle East watchers are wondering today if Israelis and Palestinians are reaching the cliff at the end of the Road Map that Secretary of State Colin Powell spoke of last week. Locked in a power struggle with his prime minister, Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat is now calling on militant groups to reinstate the cease-fire they broke off last week. But Arafat is also calling on Washington to stop Israel from carrying out missile attacks that target the militants.

Guests:

Charles Radin, reporter for the Boston Globe
