Year of the Documentary Story aired: Friday, September 05, 2003
The summer movie season this year was disappointing for many film critics, except for one particular type of movie, the documentary. The trend was boosted by the success of last year's "Bowling for Columbine," Michael Moore's scathing look at gun ownership in America.
"Bowling for Columbine" was both a critical and commercial success. It won an Oscar for Best Documentary, and grossed over $20 million in the U.S. and Canada.
Film reviewer Eric Schaefer joins Here and to talk about this summer's bumper crop of "docs."
