Iraq U.N. Compound Bombed
Story aired: Monday, September 22, 2003



In Iraq, a suicide bomber sitting in a car outside U.N. Headquarters in Baghdad set off an explosives belt and a 50 pound bomb today. The car exploded as it was being checked by an Iraqi policeman, killing the driver and the policeman and injuring 19 others.

Last month, another car bomb that was detonated at the compound killed 20 people including the U.N.'s top envoy in Baghdad.
