The new book "The Madam" by bestselling-author Julianna Baggott is a work of fiction inspired by the real life story of her great grandmother and her grandmother, Mildred Lane.

The book is set in the 1920s, the decade Mildred was born. The location: a brothel. Like the characters in the book, Mildred grew up in a house of prostitution run by her mother.
