The separation wall between Israel and the Palestinian territories near the Palestinian West Bank (AP)
U.S. Opposes Planned West Bank Barrier
Story aired: Thursday, October 02, 2003

The Israeli housing minister today gave the okay for 550 new homes to be built in Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

The news comes a day after the Israeli cabinet approved construction of the next phase of a security wall that partly extends into Arab land, including the large Israeli settlement of Ariel. The Israeli government will leave gaps in that wall in an apparent agreement with the Bush administration.

Guests:

Charles Radin, The Boston Globe.
