Syria Demands U.N. Action on Israel Attack
Story aired: Monday, October 06, 2003

For the first time since the Yom Kippur War 30 years ago, the Israeli Air Force struck a target inside Syria, an alleged terrorist training camp. The attack was in response to Saturday's horrific suicide bombing in a crowded Haifa restaurant that killed 19 Jews and Arabs.

Syria has asked the United Nations Security Council to condemn the strike. Diplomats from many countries have criticized the air strike and also the terrorism that provoked it. U.S. ambassador to the U.N. John Negroponte warned both sides not to let events spin out of control.

Guests:

Christopher Dickey, Newsweek Magazine.
