Untangling My Chopsticks
Story aired: Wednesday, October 08, 2003

When she was a little girl, Victoria Abbot Riccardi's grandmother used to bring her gifts after her travels to Japan.

Years later, her beloved grandmother's death became one of the inspirations for an extraordinary trip Victoria made. At the age of 25, she decided to move to Kyoto, Japan to learn the ancient art of Tea Kaiseki, the cuisine that accompanies the formal Japanese tea ceremony. It's a journey she chronicles in her new cookbook memoir "Untangling My Chopsticks."

Here and Now producer Emiko Tamagawa met up with Victoria at a complex of popular Japanese restaurants in Cambridge, Massachusetts to share some of her expertise.

Guests:

Victoria Abbot Riccardi, author, "Untangling My Chopsticks."
