President Bush waves as he departs the White House for New Hampshire (AP)
Bush Talks Economy, Iraq in NH
Story aired: Thursday, October 09, 2003

President George W. Bush swung into New Hampshire today. The president is not trolling for votes in the first primary state. There is no Republican insurgency threatening Bush's re-nomination.

His re-election, though, is another matter. In one new poll, a majority of Americans think the country is on the wrong track. However, another new poll shows that the president would defeat any of the three leading Democratic contenders now also spending a lot of time in New Hampshire.

Here and Now host Robin Young followed the president up to New Hampshire today to hear a speech and take the political temperature in the state.
