Tim Riley: Tribute Albums and File Sharing
Story aired: Monday, October 13, 2003

In addition to a spate of box sets from mega-platinum stars, pop music
has recently seen a surge in tribute CDs. Usually, this involves a variety
of singers doing another act's catalogue. A country version of Eagles hits
went to the top ten a few years back for instance and prompted the original band to reunite and tour again. Our music critic Tim Riley is here to talk about the
ins and outs of the tribute genre, and how it affects the current downloading controversy.

Tim Riley's tribute picks:

Just Because I'm a Woman: The Songs of Dolly Parton -Various Artists

Light of Day: Tribute to Bruce Springsteen
-Bruce Springsteen

To Lefty From Willie [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]
-Willie Nelson
