Alicia Miles and John Robinson in Fine Line's Elephant
"Elephant" and "Zero Day"
Story aired: Friday, October 24, 2003

On April 20th, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Kleibold took explosives and semi-assault weapons to Columbine High School and killed 12 fellow students, a teacher, and themselves.

Everywhere in the United States, and around the world for that matter, people shook their heads and wondered how this could this have happened.

Now, more than four years later, Hollywood is posing the same questions in two new films, remarkable for the naturalism they attempt to create, and because neither movie much goes in for answers.

"Elephant" is by director Gus van Zandt, and "Zero Day" is director Ben Coccio's first film. Both films appear in gradual release in the coming weeks, and joining us to give his take on them is Garen Daly, film reviewer for the WBUR show "On Point."

Guests:

Garen Daly, film reviewer.
