It was the bloodiest day in Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in April. Car bombs struck the International Red Cross headquarters and three police stations in Baghdad today, killing 40 people and wounding more than 200. This, the day after a car bomb exploded outside the Al Rashid hotel, where guests included Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz.

President Bush is meeting in Washington today with the top U.S. civil official in Iraq, Lieutenant Paul Bremer.
