Goldin Withdraws from BU Presidency Story aired: Friday, October 31, 2003
He may have led NASA, but Daniel Goldin is not going to lead Boston University.
Goldin is reported to have withdrawn from the position a week after the school's board of trustees -- the same ones who appointed him over the summer -- took a vote of no-confidence on his presidency. Goldin was to take over from outgoing Chancellor John Silber tomorrow.
The controversy surrounding Goldin's appointment to B.U. makes for some a compelling drama, but also leaves people wondering about the nature of the position and to what extent the president of the school shapes the culture of the institution.
