Twyla Tharp
Twyla Tharp
Story aired: Tuesday, November 04, 2003

The mystery of creativity: there's no instruction manual for it. In fact, a lot of us tend to think art is ignited by a thunderbolt from above, inspiration that's only the province of an elect, blessed with the gift for communing with the muse.

That's not really how renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp sees it, in her new book "The Creative Habit. Tharp does express great faith in inspiration, but she also suggests most anyone can unleash creativity.

According to Tharp, the secret for even the wildest flights of creative abandon is, of all things, routine.

Guests:

Twyla Tharp, choreographer and author of "The Creative Habit"
