Woburn Toxic Case Questioned
Story aired: Friday, November 14, 2003

New scientific evidence seems to cast doubt on who the bad guys really were in the 1980s lawsuit involving Woburn Massachusetts and the W.R. Grace Corporation.

In 1986, a federal court decided W.R. Grace had polluted the water supply of Woburn, Massachusetts, where there had been a rash of deaths from leukemia among children. Recent research conducted at Ohio State University suggests that several companies were involved in the contamination of the water supply in Woburn.

The case was recently brought to life in the book "A Civil Action" and the 1999 movie of the same title. The film portrays a suburban town's brave, underdog, legal struggle against W.R. Grace Corporation.
