Bush in Britain
Story aired: Tuesday, November 18, 2003

The conventional wisdom at the moment would seem to be that President George Bush is quite unpopular in Great Britain. The evidence? Well, 14,000 police officers bracing to keep order in London, for one, as the president leaves today for his four-day state visit there. Tens of thousands of protestors are expected in the streets.

However, a new British poll shows that images of protests on TV screens and front pages over the next few days may be deceiving, because the majority of Britons are actually quite pro-American, and half polled say they welcome the president's visit.

Guests:

Julian Borger, The Gaurdian.
