Book cover detail, "The Language of Blood"
Language of Blood
Story aired: Wednesday, November 26, 2003

In the search for a child to adopt, many parents look overseas, to countries such as Korea or China. But what does it mean for a child of Asian heritage to be brought up by white parents?

That is the struggle that author Jane Jeong Trenka details in her new book "The Language of Blood." Given up by her Korean mother in order to get her away from an abusive father, Jane grew up in Minnesota in a predominantly white community.

Jane Jeong Trenka joins Here and Now to discuss her experience chronicled in her book.
