Album cover detail, "This Train"
Wayfaring Strangers
Story aired: Thursday, December 04, 2003

The band "The Wayfaring Strangers" is a melting pot of musical influences. The nine-person band combines elements of country, folk and bluegrass, with the improvisational freedom of jazz.

On their new album "This Train," they begin the traditional tune "Cluck Old Hen" with a clarinet that sounds more Klezmer than country

The wayfaring strangers recently performed at the Somerville Theater in Massachusetts. Producer Brad Fritz sat in on a rehearsal for the show and spoke with the band's leader.

The Wayfaring Strangers appearances for December:

December 19, 2003: Philadelphia Museum of Art (Philadelphia, PA)

December 20, 2003: Rosslyn Spectrum Center (Rossyln, VA)

Guests:

Matt Glaser, founder and director of the band "The Wayfaring Strangers"
