ACLU Files Complaint over LA Student Punishment
Story aired: Monday, December 08, 2003

A school board in Lafayette, Louisiana is planning to meet this Thursday concerning a 7-year-old second-grader who was punished for telling a friend he had two mothers, that his moms were gay. The boy informed his friend that "gay" meant a girl likes a girl.

Joe Cook, head of the Louisiana American Civil Liberties Union, said the group is ready to file a lawsuit if the school doesn't issue an apology to the student and his parents.
