Bremer Meets with DC Officials

The U.S. Administrator in Iraq Paul Bremer has flown to Washington from Baghdad to meet to with President Bush's foreign policy team. They discuss the continuing resistance to U.S. plans to hold indirect, caucus-style elections for a new Iraqi government.

Between 10,000 and 30,000 Iraqis demonstrated in the southern city of Basra yesterday, in support of Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, who is holding firm to his demand for direct, one man, one vote elections.
