Music Legends Find New Breath on Small Labels Story aired: Monday, February 23, 2004
Major music labels over the past few years have been aggressively "young sizing:" getting rid of older stars. Instead of fading away, many of those stars are enjoying revived careers on independent record labels.
Some of these artists are Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, Nanci Griffith, and Judy Collins, to name a few. Both Johnny and June Carter Cash made their final records on independent labels, and both won Grammies posthumously this year.
