The separation wall between Israel and the Palestinian territories near the Palestinian West Bank (AP)
Hague Hearings Examine the West Bank Barrier
Story aired: Tuesday, February 24, 2004

Jordanian officials testified today at The Hague, against the wall Israel is building on the West Bank, a barrier Israel says is meant to keep out Palestinian terrorists.

It is the second day of hearings at the International Court of Justice, which is the U.N.'s highest judicial body. Palestinians argued yesterday before the court that the fence, as Israel calls it, is not about security but is in fact a land grab, since the wall intrudes deep into the West Bank in places.

On Sunday, eight Israelis died in a suicide bombing in Jerusalem. Israel says if the wall had been completed there, the attack could not have happened.
