Chris Kimball tastes a variety of milk
Got Milk
Story aired: Thursday, February 26, 2004

We've been listening to stories about milk this week. We've looked at the use of Bovine Growth Hormone, at conventional versus organic farms, and at how one little organic label ended up part of a giant corporation.

But what we haven't talked about is taste. So we decided to conduct our own taste test. We used three brands: one from a big dairy company; one, an ultra-pasteurized organic product, also from a big company, and milk from a small local dairy that uses Jersey Cows instead of the more common Holsteins.

We asked our staff to evaluate them, and then for the benefit of a really expert palate, we paid a visit to Chris Kimball, the founder of Cook's Illustrated magazine and one of the stars of the PBS show America's Test Kitchen.

Guests:
