Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. (AP)
Scalia Scandal
Story aired: Friday, February 27, 2004

There are revelations today of another hunting trip involving Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

The incident dates to November 2001, when Scalia was a guest of the University of Kansas Law School.

At that time, the justice went hunting with the governor of Kansas and the school's dean. The dean was also the lead attorney for the state of Kansas in two active Supreme Court cases.

Justice Scalia has issued a statement saying he does not believe the circumstances could reasonably lead anyone to question his impartiality.

This incident is being compared with Scalia's more recent hunting trip with Vice President Dick Cheney at a time when Cheney is a litigant before the court.

Guests:

Cynthia Gray, director of the Center for Judicial Ethics at The American Judicature Society.
