Many in our audience, but not all, will remember the special aura of the petroleum-based product, known as a record album. They don't sell them much anymore, but to some the special sound, the special feel, and even the clunky size of a record has magic.
This aura attracts a certain type of music fan: who'd gladly travel, say, 3,000 miles to get their hands on an obscure B-side by some long-forgotten rock band that was never popular in the first place. This type of hard core record fan is fondly depicted in the book and movie "High Fidelity."
Now die-hard record fans are profiled in the book "Vinyl Junkies: Adventures in Record Collecting." Brett Milano is the book's author and is himself an avid collector. Milano spoke to Here and Now at the used record store "Looney Tunes" in Cambridge, Mass.
