Spain's New Government Vows to Pull Iraq Troops
Story aired: Monday, March 15, 2004

Spaniards awoke today to the prospect of a new government. Spain's national elections ended in an upset, with the ruling center-right popular party tumbling from power, replaced by the Socialists. Analysts point to one clear cause: last week's terrorist attacks that killed 200 and injured thousands.

Ninety percent of Spaniards opposed Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar's support for the Bush administration's Iraq policy. The terror attacks are seen as the price the Spanish have paid for a war they did not want.

Guests:

Charles Sennott, correspondent for the Boston Globe.
