Families React to 9/11 Hearings
Story aired: Thursday, March 25, 2004

The New York Times editorializes today that former counterterrorism advisor Richard Clarke has said the words that needed to be said about 9/11: I apologize. Clarke testified yesterday that he failed the families of victims, and the government did as well, becoming the first American official to utter the phrase.

Clarke also defended himself against charges of grandstanding.

President Bush's National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice was also criticized for her decision not to testify at the hearings.

Guests:

Juliette Kayyem, senior fellow at the International Security program at the JFK School of Government at Harvard University.

Carie Lemack

a founder of the group Families of September 11th.
