One country the war in Iraq was supposed to rattle in the direction of change is Syria. In recent weeks, unrest has spread among Kurds who live in the north of the country They seem inspired to demand greater democracy by the Kurds in Iraq.

There are reports of major clashes between Kurds and Syrian police, with Kurds reporting as many as a hundred killed.
