Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (AP)
Sharon Claims Arafat Pledge is Void
Story aired: Tuesday, April 06, 2004

As Jews in Israel celebrate Passover, the country has been on high alert for two weeks since the radical Islamic group Hamas vowed revenge for the killing of its founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has given a series of interviews in recent days, in which he did not rule out more targeted killings of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and of Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat. Whoever aims to kill Jews, the prime minister said, is marked for death.

Guests:

James Bennet, The New York Times.
