Iraqi insurgents released 10 hostages, mostly from Pakistan and Turkey but still hold as many as 24, including three Japanese, seven Chinese, and one American truck driver for the Kellogg, Brown & Root Company.

U.S. officials reported that two U.S. soldiers and seven additional employees of the contractor Kellogg, Brown & Root are also missing.

U.S. Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt said that securing roads has now become a top priority in Iraq.
